Flood and Landslide in Southern Sulawesi Island, Indonesia |

DAMAGE
Torrential rains hit the southern Sulawesi Island for three days started
from June 18. On June 20, the area was inundated by 1-2m, and landslide
wrecked havoc in Sinjai district.

- Dead: 190
- Missing: more than 140

CAUSE
Locals point out illegal logging as a major cause of the disaster.
GFAS RAINFALL INFORMATION
According to GFAS, daily precipitation exceeding 5-year return period was
observed on June 20 in the southern Sulawesi Island (Fig.1).
