Flood cases in Japan 2004
|
|
Record breaking 10 typhoons struck Japan this year. The last typhoon of
this year, TOKAGE, left severe damages in many regions in Japan, more than
90 people were killed. Also the torrential rain blew northern Japan in
July, setting off dyke breaches and thousands of inundated houses. We are
reporting a flooding case of Niigata and Fukushima prefectures, and another
case of Fukui prefecture. Please refer to the reports below.

Flood Hazard Map Manual available |
|
Since last month the Flood Hazard Map Manual by IDI is available on IFNet
website. WMO/ESCAP Typhoon Committee with the member states are extending
the technical cooperation. IFNet has uploaded the manual for more use.
