IFNet Pre-meeting held in Johannesburg, South Africa |
|
IFNet Pre- meeting was held in Johannesburg, South Africa during the period of World
Summit on Sustainable Development. Plan for Kyoto and schedule during WWF3 were
confirmed among participants on the basis of the result of 1st Preparatory Meeting in the
Hague, the Netherlands in May 2002. The following topics were also discussed in this
meeting; objectives, organization, funding rules and principles. These topics will be continued
to discuss on the 2nd Preparatory Meeting held in Kyoto in November 2002.
Activities toward establishment of IFNet were also introduced to the participants of the
summit through distributing brochures and CD-ROMs in Water Dome. In this booth, IFNet
was paid considerable attention to by many participants, as well as in Stockholm Water
Symposium.

Introduction to IFNet at International Symposium on Flood Defense in Beijing
|
|
Second International Symposium on Flood Defense was held in Beijing, China
from 10 to 14 September. Better understanding on flooding was focused on
and discussed actively from the view point of state-of-the-art flood studies,
environmental problems, climate change, and engineering and non-engineering
strategies of flood control. We introduced the idea of establishing network,
such as background, objectives, activities participation etc., to the participants
of the Symposium through distributing brochures and CD-ROMs, and appealing
panel display. IFNet was paid considerable attention from the participants
because most of them are from the organization in charge of flood control
and university and institute which implement flood studies.
